Production Work Shooting and Editing Plans

The production process is the transformation of imagination into concrete images. However, this transformation requires serious planning, especially when different shooting locations and times are involved.

1. Location Selection and Preliminary Research

The location of each scene directly affects the atmosphere of the story. For different shooting locations:
– Evaluate the accessibility and usability of the location.
– Check the lighting conditions, sound level, and technical equipment compatibility.
Example: While natural light is a significant advantage for a forest scene, sound control may be challenging.

2. Timing Strategies
When shooting in different locations, time is your most valuable asset. Managing time well is one of the most important ways to make the production process easier. Remember that the editing process can also be an effective advantage when it comes to issues related to time and space. We’ll figure it out at the table—it may not always work, but it’s a useful idea.
– Schedule scenes according to daylight (especially for outdoor scenes).
– Research local permits and time constraints in advance.
– Plan backup times to account for weather risks.
– Some shots may take longer than expected, so be careful when calculating the total duration.
Example: By considering the sunrise and sunset times, you can capture the “golden hour.”

3. Shooting Schedule Based on the Script
In order to ensure consistency and fluidity in the scenes during the scripting phase, it is necessary to take into account concepts such as daylight, night lighting, seasonal conditions, and continuity of scenes. If consecutive night scenes are related to each other in terms of content, it is more appropriate to shoot them at the same time. It may not be possible to notice this in two different scenes that take place in daylight and are independent of each other, but the shooting schedule is important in ensuring continuity without prolonging production.
– Shoot scenes in the order that is appropriate in terms of location and time, rather than in the order of transition in the script, but ensure that they are properly connected according to the script.
– Collaborate with the editor and director to ensure seamless transitions between timing and locations.

Preparing for Post-Production

Ensuring that all necessary materials for editing are complete begins during filming; flawless filming ensures flawless editing. Organizing time and space means maximizing light, sound, and visual quality.

– Shooting data must be recorded (date, time, location).

– Information about each scene must be noted.

– Sound recordings must be organized into separate files and transferred to editing.

WHAT DOES THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

The production process is like a music group. Each instrument and musician must come in at the right time and play in the right tone. Different shooting locations and times not only create visual differences but also determine the rhythm of the narrative. Therefore, planning is the strongest bridge to success. With proper planning, you will have all the pieces in place.
