Every day we deal with dozens of things. Meetings, revisions, presentations, the rush to get things done…
When we stop and think for a moment, we realize that what tires us the most is actually something else:
Trying to “look good” despite everything and saying “yes”
to every revision for every client.
In addition to completing a job, taking responsibility for someone else, being added to a presentation at the last minute,
finishing a late night revision until the morning… Most of these things happen because we cannot say no.
Because sometimes we are afraid of appearing incomplete, and sometimes it is hard to get out of the perception of “he can do it”.
The more we say yes to everything, the less energy we have for ourselves. It becomes difficult to do good work and to stay creative…. That’s why I reminded myself this month: Saying “no”
is not selfishness. On the contrary, it is setting boundaries and respecting yourself and your work.
Sometimes you may be left in the background because you say “no”, but that background can bring you
closer to yourself. Some “no’s” are as valuable as “yes’s”.
Maybe we need to be a little more selective now. Instead of trying to keep up with everything,
choose to be present in places where we can really contribute… And sometimes say “no” not silently, but clearly.
