Creativity and Inspiration in the Design Process

On Creativity and Inspiration: Keeping the Mind Alive in the Design Process
Graphic design is not only about technical knowledge and program mastery. Creativity is the basic building block that forms the soul of this
work. However, there is a
fact that every designer faces from time to time: inspiration blockage.
So how do I deal with this situation? How do I try to keep my creativity alive?

The Source of Inspiration Can Be Anywhere
I don’t think creativity is something limited, but I believe that if we don’t feed it
it can atrophy. That’s why observation is very important for me. A poster I see walking down the street, an old children’s book, music videos or even a color transition in nature can give me ideas.
Inspiration is not only on the screen, but in the middle of everyday life.

What Do I Do in Moments of Blockage?
There are times when I can’t come up with any ideas. I remind myself
that this situation is temporary. At such times, it is good for me to turn to areas other than design.
Being inspired by the designs or even just taking a breath of fresh air can clear my mind.
Also, looking at my old work or chatting with my designer friends helps me to refresh my inspiration.

Inspiration or Copying?
It is very important to make this distinction correctly. Being inspired means reinterpreting an idea, an emotion or a style from your own perspective. Copying is direct imitation.
Trying a similar style or being inspired by another design is of course not a bad thing, but you should always add your own unique touch. In this way, you both develop and start to create your own design language over time. And it’s a good feeling to combine things and create something new.
Nurturing Creativity is a Continuous Journey
Staying creative in design often requires an active effort. That’s why when I’m not being productive, I like to be soft on myself and refocus without forcing inspiration.

It’s important to remember: creativity is more than a momentary idea, it’s a
process that needs to be nurtured on a regular basis.
So how do you nurture your creativity? What works best when inspiration is blocked?
