I would like to start with eBay. eBay is a world-famous online trading
application. It used to be a company that used to operate under the name Gittigidiyor in our country.
But now we can’t see him. Did eBay make a sudden change?
The answer is yes, it did and it caused a disaster.
So how did this happen? Let’s go back a little bit.
⏳ Time: 2012…
The face of the internet was changing. Websites were becoming flatter, simpler, more “Apple-like”.
But there was one place… still resisting in the warm colors of the past:
eBay.
With its colorful logo on a yellow background…
With that familiar design…
It was like an internet big brother who was stuck in 2002 but not ashamed of it at all.
And then…
One morning everything changed.

“There is something strange today…”
As usual, users could not believe their eyes when they entered the site.
The old logo of colorful, overlapping letters was gone.
The yellow background was gone.
The boxes were scattered and the products were floating in a white void.
It was as if eBay had put on a tie and straightened its shirt, as if to say “I’ve grown up too”.
 First Reaction: SHOCK
Forums, blogs, social media went up in flames:
“How could you make such a change without informing us?”
“They killed the soul of eBay.”
“What is this Helvetica? The old logo was energetic, original and crazy.”
Thousands of loyal users felt eBay had “lost its character”.
Some were angry, some were sad.
Others felt like strangers there now.
 And eBay made a decision…
The design was taken back.
Yes, really.
That new interface was shelved for a while.
But this was the beginning of a strategy, not a defeat.
eBay realized that it was a mistake to make a design change overnight, to erase years of habits at once.
And from that moment on, it took a different path.
 Slowly… Quietly…
He did not make any more sudden changes.
Instead:
It softened the colors a little bit,
He rounded the corners of the buttons a little bit,
Simplified categories,
● He updated the logo little by little…
But it was all an “acclimatization exercise”.
So first they stopped serving coffee with sugar, then they made it with less milk…
And one morning users realized,
They were used to drinking black coffee.
And eventually eBay made this change
But will it always be like this? The answer is no. But why?
If we give an example from Yedifarktan, it had an identity that was outdated and not in line with the modernity of the sector, and this design change gave the company a stylish and modern identity that shows what its purpose is
So changes made on time and on time have always been close to perfection.
